Well, Father's Day is right around the corner... it's going to be bittersweet for a few reasons. One being, my Dad is no longer here. I can hardly believe it's almost been 7 months since he passed away :( Two being, Jordan thought he was going to be a Daddy soon & he will, in God's timing. Both things are hard to understand, and doubly hard not to ask "why?". We would never have gotten through either of those trials without our
Heavenly Father, who thankfully, will
never leave us. We are so immensely grateful for the relationship we share with him.
We are both also very grateful for
Mr. Joel Richards :) He is an amazing Dad, Pastor & person. I am personally beyond thankful to have such an amazing Father in-law, who doesn't seem like an "in-law" at all, none of my in-laws do, God has surely blessed me in that department :) I know how much Jordan thinks of Joel... how much he admires him & how much he hopes to be half the Father that Joel has been to him (which I have no doubt he will be :)). I too admire the Father that Joel is, and the Father he has become to me, he always makes me feel welcome & genuinely makes me feel like his own flesh & blood ;)

One of our favorite pictures from that day! |
I certainly miss my Dad, more than I thought humanly possible. I never could have imagined how much losing a parent would hurt. I will always wish I had one more day with him, to tell him all of the things I never got the chance to say, but then I know I'd always wish for
one more day after that. He was an amazing man - he would give his shirt off his back to anyone, would lend a hand whenever & wherever he could. He loved with his whole heart & never thought he deserved anything in return. He was beyond intelligent. He gave the best hugs & would do anything in his power to put a smile on my Sister & I's face. I wish so much that Jordan would've gotten to know the man that I knew, the man he never got a chance to see... I know Jordan wishes he would've too. Everything happens for a reason & is all part of God's plan, but I can't help but wish that my Dad passing away wasn't a part of His plan. I've missed him every minute since he left, and can't wait until the day we meet again. -Jenna

| My Dad :) This isn't the best picture of him, but it's the only one I have on our computer. |
We found these & really liked them, so we thought we'd share them in honor of Father's Day :)
What Makes A Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need.
Then God combined these qualities.
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... "DAD!"
Quiet Hero
My Hero is the quiet type,
no marching bands, no media hype,
but through my eyes it's plain to see,
a hero, God has sent to me.
With gentle strength and quiet pride,
all self concern is set aside,
to reach out to our fellow man,
and be there with a helping hand.
Heroes are a rarity,
a blessing to humanity.
With all they give and all they do,
I'll bet the thing you never knew,
My quiet hero has always been you.
We pray that both our Dad's may always know how much they mean to us & how very much they are loved. Wishing you all a very blessed Father's Day weekend :)
Love & Blessings,
J & J
